I was very excited about the gifts. I bought them several months ago and have anxiously been awaiting to give them. Now, I am NOT good at keeping secrets/surprises, so this was a hard task. I just knew that it was the perfect gift(s). Rarely do I have full confidence in gift giving. I really try to give something that is unique and specific to that person. By now you are probably wondering what this most excellent gift is...Huckleberries! Are you scratching your head in puzzlement? Let me explain. Hubbies grandparents own a cabin in Montana. Some of hubbies best childhood memories are from the summers he spent up there. He enjoyed all the nature and freedom to roam & explore. and he loved picking wild huckleberries. Unfortunately we haven't been able to make it up to the cabin for several years. We have both missed it. Anyway, several months ago, I ran across Montana Bear Food, a Montana website that sold Wild Huckleberry products, like muffin & pancake mixes, syrups, licorice etc. What could be more perfect?! We love huckleberries & we love baking = Perfection! So I ordered muffin mix, pancake mix, syrup and licorice. (I may or may not have bought a tube of Huckleberry chapstick for myself as well.) Ok, back to the crafties...
After wrapping the presents, I decided we should make a cute card I saw on Pinterest.
Lil Man was already in bed by the time daddy got home. So Daddy & I just relaxed, caught up on the day and just spent some alone time together. I have to admit, I was so excited for Lil Man to give daddy his Father's Day stuff, I really really wanted to wake him up! But I didn't. However, he must have sensed my excitement because while we were watching a movie (around 2am), and he woke up. He was just as anxious as I was to begin the Father's Day Celebration. So we did. Of course, daddy just loved his card! And he was very pleased with all the Huckleberry items. He immediately opened the licorice to share. Around 4am, all the excitement (sugar high from the licorice) finally died down, and we all went to bed. Needless to say, we all slept in. We were pretty lazy the rest of the day as well.
For dinner, I cooked a simple Pot Roast with carrots, potatoes and onions in the crockpot. It was yummy and filled our bellies. So that is how our Father's Day went. I hope you all had a great day as well!
